CHEEKTOWAGA – The Town of Cheektowaga is taking steps to demolish a vacant home on Broadway that has become dangerous and unsafe to the general public.

3890 Broadway has fallen into disrepair, and since July 2016, ten different reports have been recorded by the town’s building inspectors.

The home was listed as a zombie home last January.

Melvina Bummer is listed as the home’s owner.  She does not own any other property in Erie County according to county records, and the property has been in the Bummer family since 1946.

A power of attorney for Ms. Bummer was granted to Erie County Department of Social Services in 2011.  All mailings for the home are directed to the county’s office for adult protective services.

The property owner owes $9,167.54 in back taxes dating back 2016.

A public hearing in which the owner can dispute the claims before the town council has been scheduled for February 12, 2019, at 7 pm at the Council Chambers.
