CHEEKTOWAGA – The dream to advance to the state championship fell short for Cheektowaga Central and Cleveland Hill after both teams were defeated Saturday during the state semifinals in Endicott.
Cheektowaga held Chenango Forks to one touchdown heading into halftime, but Chenango Forks turned on the run game during the second half and Cheektowaga couldn’t stop them. The Class B semifinal ended in a 48-28 loss to the Blue Devils.
The Golden Eagles were in control for most of the first half, but Patrick Hackler and the Lakers offense were able to close the gap and grounded the Eagles in the second half. The Class C semifinal ended with a Skaneateles win; 63-56.
