Tonawanda man in jail after Saturday crash

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – A Tonawanda man is facing a number of charges after crashing his car in a cemetery on Saturday.

Cheektowaga Police say that Larry D. Tuttle Jr., 28, of Midland Ave, Tonawanda NY, was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Speed Unreasonable, and No insurance.  

A source tells Cheektowaga Chronicle that Buffalo Police are also charging him with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.

Police responded to the area of Pine Ridge Road just before 5 p.m. Saturday to investigate a vehicle driving recklessly.

Tuttle crashed his vehicle in Mount Calvary Cemetery damaging a few headstones.  Tuttle got out and ran towards Harlem Road according to reports.  State Police chased him on foot along Danbury Drive were he was later brought into custody.

A Cheektowaga Police officer noted that he found debris from a crash all over Pine Ridge Road, but no victim.  The George Urban Mansion historical marker sign was also down.

Tuttle’s vehicle was impounded by police and he was later checked out by EMS at police headquarters for a head injury.  He didn’t go to the hospital.
