Teenager charged in weekend slashing incident

CHEEKTOWAGA – A 15-year-old girl faces felony and misdemeanor charges after she slashed another individual with a knife during a fight at the Walden Galleria Saturday.

The Cheektowaga Police say the fight broke out in the southwest parking lot just before 8 pm Saturday between two 15-year-old girls.  Police say the individuals knew each other and the attack was not random.

During the fight, one of the girls slashed the other with a knife.  A wound to her abdomen was treated at the scene and further treatment was provided at Erie County Medical Center.  She was later released from the hospital.

The assailant entered the mall after the incident and was later located by Cheektowaga Police officers.

She was charged with Assault 1st, a B Felony and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th, an A Misdemeanor.

The case will be adjudicated in Family Court due to the age of the offender.
