SLOAN – Three Buffalo residents were arrested by Cheektowaga Police Thursday afternoon after the trio attacked a senior citizen at the scene of a property damage only motor vehicle crash.
Assistant Chief of Police Jim Speyer tells Cheektowaga Chronicle that the senior citizen was driving down Halstead Avenue around 1 pm when a second vehicle “in a hurry” tapped the man’s vehicle.
“When the 70-year-old pulled over to exchange information, the three occupants of the second car started beating him. One by one, people in the neighborhood come out to stop the assault and are then attacked by the three,” Mr. Speyer said.
Kiara Triplette, 23, of Collins Walk Avenue, Buffalo, jumped into the senior’s vehicle and started smashing it into nearby cars.
The three then fled the scene in their original car. Police located their vehicle and stopped them on Lovejoy Street near Lackawanna Avenue and arrested, Ms. Triplette; Taisean Johnson III, 20, of Cambridge Avenue, Buffalo; and Edtical Thompson, 22, of Collins Walk Avenue, also of Buffalo.
Both Mr. Johnson and Mr. Thompson were charged with two counts of Assualt. Ms. Triplette was charged with Assualt, Criminal Mischief, Reckless Driving, and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
Mr. Speyer said the senior citizen suffered cuts, bruises, and broken ribs in the attack. The trio faced gang assault charges, but the Assistant District Attorney recommended only assault charges because the victim didn’t suffer serious injuries.
