CHEEKTOWAGA – A school bus carrying a full bus of Union East Elementary students was involved in a hit-and-run crash Monday afternoon.
First responders met the school bus in the parking lot of the Target store on Walden Avenue around 4 pm.

Rescue firefighters, an AMR ambulance crew, supervisor, and a doctor from the Erie County Medical Center checked out the K-4 students as a precaution. The students then boarded a second school bus after they were medically cleared. Becuase of the hot temperature, the fire department purchased bottled water for the kids.
The hit-and-run driver was found by the police at an address on the 400 block of George Urban Boulevard shortly after the crash. He was brought back to the scene to talk with a traffic officer. Any charges pending against the driver were not immediately known.
