Referee appointed in Mr. Bill’s foreclosure case

CHEEKTOWAGA – A Supreme Court Justice has appointed a referee in the foreclosure complaint against Mr. Bill’s Restaurant.

Justice E. Jeannette Ogden granted a default judgment against the owners of Mr. Bill’s Restaurant – John and Kathy Beck, JBecks Properties, Inc. and JBecks Restaurant, LLC – because they never answered summonses issued to them in April requesting them to respond to a foreclosure complaint filed in Supreme Court.

The April complaint was filed after the restaurant’s owners defaulted on a half-million dollar small business loan from the New York Business Development Corporation last fall.

The judge also appointed Buffalo attorney Bruce Zeftel to compute the amount due to the NYBDC and to ascertain whether the property at 1500 Cleveland Drive should be sold as one parcel.  The property contains the restaurant and a separate residence.

The owners of Mr. Bill’s Restaurant have disputed the validity of our June 19th article in which we sourced documents from the foreclosure complaint filed in Supreme Court.

“That article was inaccurate, misinformed! We are open and would love to see you,” Kathy Beck wrote on their Facebook page.
