CHEEKTOWAGA – Round two of the weekend weather roller coaster is set to begin late Sunday morning.

The weather service says around 2.5 inches of rain is expected to fall through Monday.  Rain could be heavy at times, and a thunderstorm or two isn’t out of the question.

The ice storm caused a handful of car crashes and power outages in Cheektowaga overnight Saturday.

The most significant issue happened around 5 am when a primary line fell across the intersection of Walden Avenue and Anderson Road.  Traffic in the immediate area was impacted until 10 am.

After power was restored to the area, it was determined that the traffic signal at the intersection needed additional repairs.  Police officers reopened the road to traffic but had to direct traffic.
