ERIE COUNTY – The Erie County Legislature is proposing to enact a local law that bans smoking near and inside bus shelters.

A public hearing is scheduled for December 14th at 6:00 pm at Old County Hall, 92 Franklin Street, Buffalo.  The public will have a chance to speak to the legislature about the law.

Legislator John Mills’ law would fine offenders $50.00 per violation if they are caught smoking at a bus shelter within the County of Erie.

The law covers all burning tobacco like cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and tobacco smoking devices.
