CHEEKTOWAGA – South Line firefighters called in the Cheektowaga Police Department’s Fire Investigators after they extinguished a basement fire on North Prince Drive Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters were alerted to the blaze at 140 North Prince Drive around 4 pm South Line Fire Chief Andy Dayton tells Cheektowaga Chronicle.
Heavy smoke was showing from the home when firefighters arrived.
“We deployed an 1-3/4″ line into the basement where there was heavy smoke and fire,” Mr. Dayton said. “It took them a little bit to find the fire because of the layout of the house, but it wasn’t very difficult.”

A total of seven people were displaced by the fire. Two adults who live in an apartment above the garage requested the assistance of the Red Cross. Two adults and three kids who live in the lower flat were going to stay with family.
The fire is under investigation by Cheektowaga Police.
