CHEEKTOWAGA – South Line firefighters called in the Cheektowaga Police Department’s Fire Investigators after they extinguished a basement fire on North Prince Drive Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters were alerted to the blaze at 140 North Prince Drive around 4 pm South Line Fire Chief Andy Dayton tells Cheektowaga Chronicle.

Heavy smoke was showing from the home when firefighters arrived.

“We deployed an 1-3/4″ line into the basement where there was heavy smoke and fire,” Mr. Dayton said. “It took them a little bit to find the fire because of the layout of the house, but it wasn’t very difficult.”

The fire is under investigation by Cheektowaga Police.
