BUFFALO – An alumnus of the Maryvale School District was killed in a crash on the Kensington Expressway Thursday according to published reports.

WIVB-TV reports the victim in that crash was 22-years-old Derek Kaczorowski.  He graduated Valedictorian at Maryvale High School in 2014 and later Summa Cum Laude at SUNY Geneseo.  He majored in History and Sociology.

His family told Channel 4 that he battled a seizure disorder and that could have been a factor of the crash.

Buffalo Police said his vehicle was traveling eastbound on the Kensington Expressway Thursday when it struck a car, sideswiped another, hit a tree and then flipped over several times.  The car split in half and came to rest off the expressway on Oakmont Avenue.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help Mr. Kaczorowski’s family with funeral expenses.

Visitation for Mr. Kaczorowski will be held at Barron-Miller Funeral Home, 3025 William Street, Cheektowaga, Sunday and Monday from 3-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday in Holy Spirit Church, 85 Dakota St., Buffalo, NY, Tuesday at 9 am.  Friends and family are asked to assemble at Church.
