CHEEKTOWAGA – Walden Galleria and the Cheektowaga Police Department will be conducting the first lockdown drill of the year Thursday.
The drill – which will be held at 10:15 am – is a precautionary measure conducted quarterly by Walden Galleria Security and the Cheektowaga Police Department to equip employees with proper education, training, and responsiveness in the case of an emergency.
The drill is anticipated to last approximately 15 minutes and will be initiated during open mall hours to emulate a realistic situation for employees, security, and police. Mall patrons and guests are encouraged to go about their shopping and normally visit during the drill. Walden Galleria Security works closely with Cheektowaga Police on several measures to ensure the safety and protection of all mall employees and visitors.
“Safety is and continues to remain our highest priority at Walden Galleria and we’re committed to making our shopping center a safe, year-round family-friendly destination for our guests, employees and tenants,” said Alex Corbelli, marketing director for Walden Galleria.
In 2015, Walden Galleria Security and Cheektowaga Police established a security method to indicate threat levels at each individual store within the shopping center. This method is continuously utilized to allow police to assign degrees of urgency and enhance responsiveness.
