CHEEKTOWAGA – The Cheektowaga Chamber of Commerce joined with LA Fitness Saturday morning to celebrate the grand opening of the new fitness facility.

State-of-the-art equipment and countless amenities fill the new fitness club inside Union Consumer Square.  The club offers a basketball/volleyball court, group fitness classes, indoor cycling, an indoor heated lap pool, a kids club, personal trainers, and Wi-Fi.

The month-to-month membership fee to join the club is $29.99 a month and a $99.00 initiation fee.  LA Fitness General Manager Jamie Imerese says members can take advantage of the amenities at any one of the region’s eight clubs.

“Somebody who may live in the Elmwood area and use our club on Elmwood [Avenue]; when they’re at work here at the mall, or at Texas Roadhouse, or here at Sams – they’re able to use our location as well,” said Mr. Imerese.

The club is owned and operated by LA Fitness and is not franchised.  Mr. Imerese says the company’s business model of month-to-month membership benefits the customer.

“The LA Fitness here and in California, or in Texas -we’re always going to have the same cleanliness factor, the same equipment factor, the same level of staffing.  You’re going to have a lot more interaction here than at those other gyms.  Nothing against those facilities but simply offering a month-to-month membership guarantees a member experience,” added Mr. Imerese.

“We’re really doing well as far as enrollment numbers and things of that nature.  But even more so through our social media marketing with our Snapchats and Facebooks, we’re starting to see a true buzz in the community because we don’t just open a gym – we make relationships with all our business partners in the area and we cross-promote and help each other grow.  Cheektowaga is an amazing community.”
