CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – Hy-View firefighters were called to extinguish a garage fire on the 100 block of Crandon Boulevard Thursday evening.
Hy-View Fire Chief Dan Hatfield says he saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the two car garage when he arrived just before 8 pm.
“The truck got here pretty quick and pulled two hand lines, the initial attack line, and a backup line. The crew made entry on the number two side (left side) and engaged the fire right away,” said Mr. Hatfield.
The crews encountered heavy fire conditions burning up through the rafters. They were able to stop the fire before it consumed the entire garage. There was a car inside, but it doesn’t appear to be the source.
“It appears the fire started on the number two side (left side) wall so we called the fire investigator in to do an investigation,” added. Mr. Hatfield.
No one was hurt. U-Crest was called to stand by at Hy-View’s fire station during operations.
