CHEEKTOWAGA – The Town of Cheektowaga has been placed under a winter storm watch.

The National Weather Service is predicting heavy lake effect snow bands to impact the areas of Northern Erie and Genesee Counties from late Tuesday evening through late Thursday evening.

The positioning of the bands is difficult to pin down as of Monday, but forecasters think the area could see 12 to 24 inches in the most persistent lake bands.  The bands are expected to impact the morning and evening commute on Wednesday.
