CHEEKTOWAGA – The McGuire Group, operator of five skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Western New York, and its Garden Gate Health Care Facility in Cheektowaga honored more than 100 individuals who have been employed for 25 years or more during a special celebration held at the Protocol Restaurant.

The event included speeches from CEO Jim McGuire, Chairman Frank McGuire, and President Steve Mercurio as well as a video collage of each employee in action. The honorees work at all five of the group’s local facilities as well as the corporate center and represent nearly every department in the company.

Collectively, each year they administer more than 3,200,000 medications; prepare and serve more than 1,095,000 meals; provide 32 million minutes of therapy; process 48,000 claims; clean and maintain more than 500,000 square feet of buildings; complete 16,000 social work assessments; provide 10,000 activities; maintain 24,000 medical records; perform 730,000 grooming events; and admit, care for and discharge more than 4,000 patients to name a few.

Together, these employees are part of a team that consistently helps The McGuire Group achieve five-star ratings from the federal government and has enabled the organization to be the only multi-facility provider in New York State to have ranked in the state’s top quintile for quality for 5 out of 5 years.

“These individuals are heroes, and we are honored to recognize their impressive commitment to our residents and our organization,” stated Steve Mercurio, president. While Mercurio played a role in honoring the attendees for their years of service, he too was an honoree having been with the organization for 26 years. His speech included references to the Overture of 1812 and how each individual instrument works together to create a masterpiece, much like the staff.
