CHEEKTOWAGA – A portion of Walden Avenue was shut down Wednesday morning after the driver of a delivery truck apparently suffered a medical emergency and crashed.

The incident happened just before 9 am between Union Road and Nagel Drive.

It appears that the truck crashed into a utility pole and two cars according to Forks Fire Chief Tom Brennan.  One of those cars was partially pushed into the building of First Student at 2306 Walden Avenue.

Mr. Brennan says three people were inside the building near the impact location, but they were not hurt.

The FedEx driver was transported to Erie County Medical Center as a precaution.

Communication lines were brought down when the truck crash into the utility pole forcing the closure of Walden Avenue for nearly a half-hour.

The scene was later turned over to the town’s building inspector and Cheektowaga Police Department.
