Enrollment for Central’s Universal Pre-kindergarten Program announced


CHEEKTOWAGA – The Cheektowaga Central School District will once again offer a full-day Universal Pre-kindergarten Program (UPK) for the 2019-2020 school year starting in September the district announced Wednesday.

The program and bus transportation for the program is depended on pending state funding.

The program is open to Cheektowaga Central District residents whose children will be 3 or 4 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2019. There will be a random draw lottery to select the UPK students.

The three-year-old UPK program will be housed Little Angels Day Care Center.  The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 am to 2 pm.

The four-year-old UPK program will be housed at three sites in the district:  Union East Elementary School, Little Angels Day Care Center, and Watch Me Grow Daycare Center.

The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9:15 am to 3:00 pm. with the exception of Little Angels Day Care which will be 8 am to 2 pm. The program will follow the curriculum implementing the Pre-K common Core Standards taught by NYS certified teachers.

Children must be 3 years of age by the start of the school year to ride the bus.  Children who are two but, turn three before the December 1st deadline can still attend and may ride the bus once they turn three.  Parents are responsible for transportation until their child turns three.

Random draw applications can be picked up in the Registration Office, located in the High School building or at Union East Elementary, 3550 Union Rd. Please return lottery applications to Audra Cyrulik, UPK Assistant Coordinator.  Applications are also available on our website, www.cheektowagak12.org.
