Doyle firefighters christen new piece of apparatus

CHEEKTOWAGA – The Doyle Fire District christened a new piece of firefighting apparatus this past week.

The new Sparten Heavy Rescue and Pumper, dubbed Doyle Squad 2, will assist Doyle firefighters to protect the citizens of their fire district and the Town of Cheektowaga.

It comes equipt with a Cummins 450-hp engine, a 1,250-gpm water pump, a 500-gallon Poly foam tank, and a Command Light Knight light tower.

Rev. David J. Borowiak, an Erie County Emergency Services chaplain, blessed the new rig during a ceremony Friday evening.
