Crash on Union Road Sends Three People to ECMC

CHEEKTOWAGA – A serious head-on crash between two vehicles shut down Union Road in both directions on Thursday night.

U-Crest firefighters along with CPD officers and multiple ambulance crews were called to the scene near Maryvale High School.  A 1995 Nissan 240 and 2017 Chevrolet Traverse crashed into one another.

Cheektowaga Police say the Nissan was traveling southbound on Union Road when it crossed over the double yellow lines and crashed into the Traverse head-on.

There were four patients between the two vehicles. The driver of the Nissan, a 24-year-old man, is in critical condition at ECMC.  A passenger of his car, an 18-year-old woman is in good condition at ECMC.

The driver of the Traverse, a 40-year-old woman complained of pain at the scene but was not transported.  Her passenger, a 71-year-old woman is in ECMC, but a condition was not available.

The two vehicles involved were towed to Cheektowaga Police impound.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
