Cleveland Hill Eagles win Class C Championship

ORCHARD PARK – The Southwestern Trojans came into the Section VI Class C Championship game looking for revenge after the Cleveland Hill Golden Eagles shutout the Trojans.

The Golden Eagles was first to put up points on the board, if for only a moment.  RB D’Mario Grant received a nice pass for a touchdown, but the officials called a penalty for an ineligible receiver downfield.  The penalty deflated the spirits of the offense and the series ended in a punt.

The Trojans took advantage minutes later, and QB Cole Snyder passed to OL Rylie Miller for a touchdown.

The Eagles were quick to strike again with a 22-yard touchdown rush by RB Aaron Wahler.  A successful two-point conversion gave Cleveland Hill the lead for the remainder of the second quarter.

The Trojans marched down the field to the red zone to start the second quarter, but the Eagles shut down the Trojans running game.  The Eagles got the ball on the turnover on downs and RB Ryan Majerowski scored with a 99-yard rush.  The two-point conversion failed.

The Eagles were able to limit the Trojans next series to a field goal.

WR Alex Card for the Trojans intercepted what would have been a touchdown pass shutting down the Eagles series.  But Cleveland Hill answered with an interception.  RB Chris Diem intercepted the Trojans ball and amassed 63-yards for the touchdown.  The two-point conversion failed.

Cleveland Hill went into halftime leading the Trojans 20 to 10.

After an unproductive series for Cleveland Hill to start the third quarter, the Eagles were able to cash in.  RB Javon Thomas blocked a Trojans punt at the 21-yard line giving Cleveland Hill excellent field position to start their series allowing them to put eight points on the board.

After shutting down the Trojans offense, the Eagles Javon Thomas rushed for 53-yards for another touchdown.  A successful two-point try expanded Cleveland Hill’s lead over the Trojans closing out the third quarter 36 to 10.

A 76-yard touchdown run by Ryan Majerowski at the halfway mark of the fourth quarter sealed the Trojans fate.

Acting QB Alex Card for the Trojans ran for 47-yards for a touchdown in the final seconds of the fourth quarter.

Cleveland Hill won the game 42 to 16 becoming the Section VI Class C Champions.  They move on to the far-west regionals in Brockport next Saturday.
