CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – Curious consumers driving down Union Road may have noticed the moving sale signs at the City Mattress store in the Union Consumer Square.

The closure of the 10,000 square foot Union Road store is the final step in the 2016 City Mattress growth plan.  Eric Anderson, the Director of Advertising and Marketing for City Mattress says this is the culmination of the growth plan which started with the opening of their Lancaster location at 4970 Transit Road.

“As the City Mattress customer base has shifted eastward, this new showroom was built to serve the sleep needs of that growing area. Conveniently located near the corner of Transit and Losson Roads, shoppers now have a larger selection of better-quality mattresses, adjustable beds, sleep sofas and bedroom furniture from which to choose,” Anderson wrote in an email to Cheektowaga Chronicle.

The larger showroom will allow for consumers to choose from over 80 different mattresses sets.  Anderson said the company has not determined a final closure date for the Union Road store.

City Mattress was founded in Buffalo in 1964 by Jay Schiller.  The company currently has 22 locations throughout western New York and southern Florida with 2 new showrooms slated to open in 2017.
