CHEEKTOWAGA – August 8th marks one year since a hit-and-run driver struck and killed 55-year-old Robert Prigl while he crossed Genesee Street to catch a flight out of Buffalo-Niagara International Airport.
The Cheektowaga Police Department is renewing its call for the public’s assistance in trying to locate the vehicle, which authorities think is an older model General Motors product like:
- Buick Regal
- Chevrolet Monte Carlo
- Olds Cutlass
- Pontiac Grand Prix
- Buick Riviera
- Cadillac Eldorado
- Cadillac DeVille
The vehicle is believed to be light in color and may have a landau vinyl roof along the back portion. It should have some front-end damage like a front fender, hood, grill or windshield.
The deadly hit-and-run crash happened in front of 4255 Genesee Street.
Mr. Prigl who split his time between Depew and Fort Myers, Florida was returning to the sunshine state after taking care of his elderly parents.
Police ask that if you know of someone that may have been involved in the accident or if there is a vehicle matching the listed description that may have that had any suspicious or unexplained front-end damage, please notify the Cheektowaga Police Department Accident Investigation Unit at 686-3580. All tips will remain confidential.
