CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – Cheektowaga Police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened inside of a home late Monday night.
Police officers were called to 212 Whitney Place around 11:50 p.m. Monday after emergency dispatchers took a 911 call from a man who said he had accidentally shot his father.
Assistant Chief of Police James Speyer tells Cheektowaga Chronicle that William Hardy, 54, died from a gunshot wound.
Lieutenant Thomas S. Wentland charged the victim’s son, SirWilliam Hardy, 31, of Cheektowaga with one count of Murder in the Second Degree.
The younger Hardy was taken away by ambulance under police guard hours after the initial 911 call. Speyer could not comment if the man was injured, but did confirm that the man is wheelchair bound.
Officers from the Detective Bureau and the Crime Scene Investigation Unit were seen collecting evidence from the scene. The investigation continues with the assistance from the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.
SirWilliam Hardy is listed as the owner of 212 Whitney Place.
Hardy was arraigned in Cheektowaga Town Court Tuesday morning. He will be transferred to the Erie County Holding Center and will return for a Felony Hearing on April 6th at 8:30 a.m.
