Cheektowaga Police Blotter: Weekend of October 27th, 2018

Friday, October 26 – 198 Calls

1:11 am – One person was arrested after a customer reported they left their wallet at 7-Eleven on French Road and the credit card was attempted to be used there.

3:27 am – A call was made to 911 about a funny odor on Freda Avenue. It smelled like “burning onions”. It turned out a dog was sprayed by a skunk.

3:37 am – Someone was arrested on a Buffalo warrant on Gardenvale Drive. This was all started after a call to police because a man turned off the gas to the house because he was afraid of the caller “burning the house down while cooking in the middle of the night”. The caller said the man who turned off the gas does crack and they were concerned. Everyone was advised.

4:13 am – A police report was filed after a purse was taken from a car on Reiman Street.

5:59 am – Cheektowaga Police assisted the FBI with a search warrant on Mapleview Road.

6:16 am – Rescue Hose firefighters went to go check out a smoke alarm that was set off at Basil Ford. It turned out it was set off by a popcorn machine.

7:08 am – A police report was filed for trespassing after a teenage girl was found in a vacant apartment by a maintenance man on Slate Creek Drive. The girl was there skipping school. Her father was advised.

7:14 am – A police report was filed for a car break-in on Gardenvillage Drive.

7:42 am – A police report was filed for a car break-in on Woodland Terrace.

8:45 am – Officers filed a police report for fraud after a person from a local business said they got an email from who they thought was an employee with new payroll information. It turned out to be a fraud.

9:15 am – Tools were reported stolen from Woodland Terrace.

9:49 am – A person on Union Road reported their bank card was stolen from their vehicle and the card was used at 7-Eleven. The store was checked for video of the incident and a police report was filed.

10:47 am – A man was taken to St. Joes to be treated for a drug overdose after being found unconscious in a vehicle on East Delavan Avenue. He was given a dose of Narcan by police at the scene.

11:00 am – South Line firefighters were called to a home on North Seine Drive. A child had called the school worried that he could not wake up his mother. The mother was awake by the time fire crews and police got to the scene.

11:49 am – Police were called to deal with a “hostile customer” at the Town engineering department at the Alexander Community Center. He was advised to not return to the office.

1:58 pm – An ambulance was called to the CPD cell block to deal with a man in lock-up dealing with heroin withdrawal. AMR crews checked him out and the man remained at police headquarters.

2:35 pm – U-Crest firefighters were called to a tractor-trailer rollover on the I-90. The driver was extricated and signed off on treatment. The firefighters contained a diesel spill at the scene.

11:31 pm – A man was arrested for vandalizing the bathroom at Pharaoah’s Gentlemen’s Club.

Saturday, October 27 – 171 Calls

12:22 am – U-Crest firefighters and an AMR ambulance crew were called to the Regal Cinema at the Galleria for a health emergency. A man was taken from the theater to St. Joes by ambulance.

2:43 am – One person skipped out on their bill at Denny’s. Cheektowaga police pulled over the vehicle in question. Six people were inside the car. The one bad apple who didn’t want to pay for their Grand Slam (or burger – we’re just assuming here) was arrested.

4:09 am – A man in Ohio said he wanted police to check on the welfare of his daughter on Ridge Park. He said he has cameras all over the house. He claimed his wife is cheating on him and there are drugs hidden in the house. Police checked out the home. There were no drugs. The child was fine. Everyone was advised.

4:36 am – A person was arrested for drunk driving on Cedargrove Circle. This is after a call came in about a person sleeping at the wheel; who fell asleep on the car horn.

9:36 am – Police picked up a homeless man who was refusing to leave the St. Joe’s ER waiting room. He was taken to Kensington and Eggert.

11:35 am – A man on Jackson Avenue called and said a dishwasher, a fan, and a heater were all stolen from his porch.

5:00 pm – A shoplifter was pepper-sprayed and taken into custody at Walden Galleria. This is after they took a bunch of items from Dick’s and were approached by loss prevention at the store. The man then pushed the loss prevention agent into a merchandise rack.

5:10 pm – A woman called 911 saying there was a man masturbating right next to her car in the Kirkland’s plaza on Union Road. When she walked closer he went into his car and left the area. The plate number she gave did not return to any vehicle in the database.

5:49 pm – A police report was filed for an unattended death on Slate Creek Drive.

7:06 pm – A man was arrested for beating his father on Carefree Lane. A domestic incident report was filed and Adult Protection Services were contacted.

8:10 pm – U-Crest firefighters were called to check out a restaurant smoke detector that went off at the Landing Bar and Grill at the Days Inn on Genesee Street. There was smoke coming from the fryer. According to the Blotter notes the vent was not working and the bar management was giving the Chief a hard time about evacuating. After the area was vented, the manager was advised on how things needed to be handled.

9:16 pm – Forks firefighters were called to check out what looked like smoke coming from the back of the Millenium Hotel. It was steam coming from the pool area.

11:51 pm – A neighbor on Starcrest Drive was upset about a large party happening. She said people were cutting through her property and urinating on her lawn. Police got to the scene and found a very large party. It was shut down.

Sunday, October 28 – 151 Calls

12:12 am – A police report was filed for harassment. An unknown person has the caller’s phone and was trying to get them to pay up to return it. They kept calling and texting several times a day.

3:12 am – A drunk driver was arrested on Cedargrove Circle. At the same scene, a couple warrants out of Buffalo were issued.

11:53 am – A police report was filed for fraud. A woman said she fell victim to a fraud where she purchased $2,000 in Home Depot cards to get her granddaughter out of jail in Virginia.

1:36 pm – Police were called to a neighbor dispute on Walden Avenue. An air conditioner from an upper unit fell off onto the caller’s vehicle. The caller was advised to take the issue to small claims court.

4:58 pm – A man called police to report a woman for making threats. He said she threatened to kill him after she caught him trying to steal her credit cards.

5:03 pm – Doyle firefighters were called to deal with a fuel spill on the I-90 after a two-car crash.

5:59 pm – A police report was filed for an unattended death on Kaufman Road.

6:10 pm – A person was arrested for drunk driving after crashing their car in the Galleria parking lot.
