Cheektowaga first responders were called out to 164 incidents on Wednesday.
12:59 am – An officer on patrol noticed a vehicle with an open trunk on Roland Street. It turned out to just be mistakenly left open. The officer shut it and secured it for the owner.
2:30 am – An arrest was made for criminal mischief on Slate Creek Drive.
7:35 am – A person was arrested for menacing and possession of a weapon on Claudette Court.
8:02 am – Two drivers got speeding tickets at a checkpoint on Como Park Boulevard.
11:33 am – A man turned in a gun to police that he found in the back of his mother’s closet. A police report was filed.
1:26 pm – A woman was taken to ECMC by ambulance after falling an fracturing her leg at Target on Walden Avenue.
1:47 pm – A police report was filed after someone on Atlantic Avenue reported their window was broken.
1:49 pm – Someone on Nokomis Parkway reported a suspicious package being delivered. They said they weren’t expecting a delivery. They were new cable boxes the son ordered.
4:56 pm – Police were called to check on a father after he didn’t pick up his child from the bus. The house was locked up. Someone was concerned because the dad is known to suffer from depression. Everything was okay, the dad was just sleeping.
6:35 pm – A guy driving around noticed his friend’s vehicle that was stolen in Buffalo. Cheektowaga Police worked it out with Buffalo Police and the registered owner got his car back.
7:09 pm – Two people were arrested in a stolen vehicle on Broadway. The Ford Explorer was released to the registered owner. One of the people in the stolen car had a warrant out of Buffalo.
7:58 pm – A possibly transgender woman with long fingernails, a large bag, wearing black uggs, and a crop-top shirt took eight to ten large perfume bottles from a store in the Galleria. It’s estimated they got away with more than $1,200 in merchandise. A police report was filed.
8:27 pm – A pedestrian was struck on Walden Avenue and taken to ECMC for treatment.
9:12 pm – A call came in about 20 people, mostly women, out on Genesee Street, near Pine Ridge, who were looking to fight. Police say one woman said someone wanted to fight her and that person tried to hit people with her vehicle. One person at the scene was arrested for marijuana possession.
9:45 pm – A woman called 911 because she was “concerned about her husband’s extracurricular activities”. She was advised.
10:03 pm – Two violators were caught at a speed checkpoint on Como Park Boulevard.
10:15 pm – A domestic incident report was filed after a woman called police because she had a fight with her boyfriend over loganberry. He left for the night.
