Cheektowaga Police Blotter: Wednesday, January 9, 2019

First responders were called to 158 calls for service on Wednesday.

2:08 am – A naked and crying woman on Carefree Lane sought aid from her neighbor after a domestic incident at another address.  A Domestic Incident Report was filled out, and an ambulance took one person to ECMC for severe intoxication.

6:42 am – The police spoke with a man who was stumbling down Harlem Road after a caller said he kept falling down while walking.  He had no shirt or shoes on and was found at Rosewood and Central.  It was determined that he was a patient of St. Joes Hospital and he had signed himself out against medical advice.  A complete disposition was not noted in the call.

7:59 am – Two vehicles were burglarized at an address on Curtiss Street overnight.  Change and a gift card were stolen.  The resident did not want a police report filed but did request that officers patrol the area during the overnight hours.

10:21 am – South Line firefighters attended to a Natural gas leak on Sebring Drive.  They isolated the leak to a faulty stove and shut off the gas.

10:17 am – A employee of the Dollar General store on Harlem Road store $6,500 in cash and merchandise.

10:53 am – Patrol officers swung by the Dartwood Community Center to read to a group of kids.

1:17 pm – A U-Crest fire chief was able to turn off an overheating electric stove after they were alerted to the issue at a home on Marlene Drive.

2:54 pm – The manager of the Sunoco gas station at Harlem and Genesee left his phone by the register, and it was boosted by an unknown person.  An investigation was started by police, and it was later located in possession of a woman in Buffalo who said she bought the phone from a young man.  She later admitted to the theft and will turn herself over to the police Thursday.

5:41 pm – An senior man begging for food outside Tim Hortons on Pine Ridge Road was told to move along by the police.

6:57 pm – A tree fell on a neighbor’s car on Virginia Road.  Information obtained at the scene by the police was forwarded onto the parties so the matter could be handled civilly.

7:34 pm – A man found his friend dead on a couch when he went over to visit him on Roswell Road.  He last spoke to the man the previous night.

10:42 pm – Forks firefighters responded to police headquarters to investigate the odor of something burning.  It turned out to be a faulty light fixture, which has been an ongoing problem.

11:39 pm – A fire hydrant was knocked off its base by 2017 Toyota Rav 4 on Parwood Drive.

11:40 pm – Patrol checked the area of Manko Lane after a woman said someone was playing in her window.
