Cheektowaga Police Blotter: Tuesday, June 12, 2018

First responders attended to 207 complaints on Tuesday, June 12, 2018.

1:31 am – The driver of a Dodge Charger was arrested for DWI at a traffic stop on Union Road.

3:36 am – An exterior light attached to police headquarters caught fire and poured smoke into the station.  Several fire departments responded to investigate the issue.

9:19 am – A woman was arrested on the first block of Hoerner Avenue for menacing.

12:15 pm – A salesperson from South Western Advantage was stopped by police as he was going door-to-door trying to sell educational books.  The man had a valid solicitor’s permit and can sell in town until August.

1:28 pm – The police talked to an intoxicated senior man on Colby Street after they were called to check on a man who was walking around his yard in the nude, talking to himself.

2:14 pm – Sloan firefighters extinguished a brush fire off Lovejoy Street.

3:09 pm – A man who identified himself as ZZ Top was stopped by the police after a person witnessed him dragging and kicking his dog.  He was detained, and the dog was picked up by the SPCA.

3:14 pm – A smoking outlet inside a Peachtree Road home was investigated by Pine Hill firefighters.  Firefighters did not find any significant hazard.

4:47 pm – Doyle firefighters investigated the odor of burning plastic inside a home on Wabash Avenue.  There was no smoke or fire, and it was later determined that the cause was from an overused outlet.

5:30 pm – The police responded to an address on East End Avenue after they received a 911 call.  A 2-year-old was playing with the phone.  Mom was advised.

5:43 pm – The police spent the better part of an hour looking for two or three guns on Alexander and Gualbert Avenues after a caller said they saw three males with guns.  The police interviewed a few people matching the subject’s description, but no weapons were recovered.

6:31 pm – Sloan firefighters extinguished a small grass fire on Crocker Street.

9:25 pm – A resident of Genesee Street told the police a check for $185 was never delivered but was recently cashed by an unknown person on April 5th.

11:09 pm – An ambulance crew checked on a woman inside the police cellblock who suffered a lip laceration from a possible seizure.
