CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – The Cheektowaga Police Department attended to 194 calls on July 11, 2017. The following is a brief report of some of the calls they received according to the Cheektowaga Police blotter.

12:22 am – Police pulled over a suspicious driver on Genesee Street. It just turned out to be someone from NYC who didn’t know the area. 

12:30 am – Officer noticed a driver hanging around Basil Ford on Walden Avenue. The person was just taking a look at the new trucks. 

1:21 am – A person living on David Avenue called to report a man riding a bike with a radio on it around the neighborhood. The caller said the man matches a description of a robbery suspect. The man was picked up by police and taken back to his house. 

3:29 am – Someone living on North Seine Drive called to report a man trying to get into cars in the neighborhood. When police got to the area they did not find the man. They spotted a woman walking her dog nearby. She did not see the man either. 

8:00 am – A woman called to report that a patio chair was tossed in her backyard sometime overnight, and it damaged her patio table. The woman is deaf, but her daughter who is not deaf was there to help with interpretation. Police advised the woman to keep her gate closed. She said she is getting a security system. 

8:38 am – U-Crest firefighters were called out to a crash on Dick Road. Two people were checked out for injuries by the ambulance crew. They signed off on further treatment. 

8:41 am – A health insurance case manager called police. A man last known to be living in the Town called and left a message saying he was going to kill himself. He no longer lives at the address in town. The case manager eventually called back saying they spoke with the man and he’s fine. 

8:44 am – Firefighters from Hy-View were called to a People Inc. home on Maryvale for a fire alarm. It turned out to be overcooked food on the stove. 

8:47 am – A car popping was reported on Lovejoy Street. 

8:57 am – Police responded to a neighbor dispute on Broadway. One man said his downstairs neighbor hit his friend’s car and spit on it. The neighbor in question will be moving out at the end of the week. Everyone was advised. 

10:25 am – There are signs that someone pried open a vacant house and is living inside the property on Herbert Avenue. The housing department was notified to secure the property. 

10:30 am – A call came in from Danny’s on Genesee Street. Someone moved out of a nearby apartment and left animals behind. The dog warden was notified. The former tenant said her ex-husband was on the way to pick the animals up. Animal control and the SPCA responded to the case. 

10:55 am – Erie County Probation officer notified CPD that they found narcotics in a home on Claudette Court during a home check. A person living in the home was later arrested on a warrant out of the Town of Tonawanda. 

11:27 am – $1,000 worth of sunglasses were reported stolen from Atwal Eye Care on Harlem Road. 

11:31 am – A person called to report a safe and tools were stolen from their West Rouen Road home overnight. There are no clear signs of a break-in. A police report was filed in the incident. 

12:25 pm – A man called from Girard Avenue. He says he was attacked by two dogs. The dogs ran down the street and did not have any tags. He declined treatment from an EMS crew. 

12:27 pm – A woman says she found another woman outside on Concord Drive. The woman was unconscious but breathing. Cleveland Hill firefighters and an ambulance responded to the scene. There were no obvious signs of drug use. She was taken to St. Joes to be checked out and a police report was filed on the incident. 

1:05 pm – Two cars crashed on Genesee Street. A child was checked out by an ambulance crew, but further treatment was turned down. 

1:15 pm – An ambulance went to a home on Cleveland Drive where a 7-year-old got a toy stuck on their finger. The child was helped out and stayed home. 

2:10 pm – A police report was filled out after someone on Broadway called to say a license plate was stolen off a trailer. 

2:44 pm – A police report was filed for identity theft after someone on George Urban Boulevard said their credit card was used by an unknown person. 

2:54 pm – A call came in from Walden Galleria. A store believes two women stole a couple piles of Calvin Klein underwear. Security and police were unable to find the women in question. 

2:56 pm – An ex-employee refused to leave Moe’s Southwest Grill on Union Road. He was in the restaurant yelling at management. The man was told if he returns to the store he will be arrested. 

2:59 pm – A woman from Viola Drive called police to complain about neighborhood kids aggravating her dog. She says it is an ongoing issue with the kids bothering the dog through the fence. That day, someone threw a sandwich over the fence, and the dog ate it. Police noticed a group of kids nearby and told them to leave the dog alone. 

3:22 pm – South Line firefighters were called to a home on Penwood Drive after a man in his 30’s was hit in the head by a grinder handle. The man was taken to ECMC for treatment. A police report was filed on the incident.

3:26 pm – Police found a man suspected of larceny in the bushes by the bike path off William. The man was arrested and a police report was filed. 

3:40 pm – A grandmother called police to check on her granddaughter. She says the child’s mother threatened to kill the girl after an argument with the child’s father. The mother and daughter were just arguing. Everyone was advised. 

3:51 pm – A car was reportedly broken into in the Ollie’s parking lot on Walden Avenue. A police report was filed. 

4:11 pm – A person living near Griffith Park found items in his yard that may have been dropped after an overnight car break-in. The items were taken were brought back to headquarters for evidence. A police report was filed. 

4:36 pm – Police were called to the Starbucks at the intersection of Walden and Anderson. A man was holding a pregnant woman against her will with a weapon in the lobby of a store. The woman was hiding out in the bathroom, and a store supervisor was giving information from the hotel in the back. A man was arrested and a domestic incident report was filed. 

4:55 pm – A person living on Lovejoy Street says a 10-year-old child was trying to hit her car by striking rocks with a golf club towards the vehicle. The boy was tracked down at his house and the mother was advised. 

5:26 pm – Two people were taken to St. Joes by ambulance to be checked out after a three-car crash on Union Road. 

5:30 pm – A person parked in the rear of the Cabela’s parking lot found the windows of his pickup truck smashed in. A police report was filed. 

6:05 pm – A woman called police upset that jewelry she bought at a kiosk in the Galleria is fake. She was not happy with management’s response. She was advised by police it’s a civil issue. She’s taking the case to small claims court. 

6:22 pm – A mother called concerned because she was supposed to meet her two children at the pool at Town Park. The kids were hanging out in the indoor building at the pool. 

7:16 pm – A car was pulled over on Broadway and two people were arrested for narcotics. 

7:17 pm – South Line firefighters were called out to a two-car crash on French Road. One person was checked out by EMS crews but refused further treatment. One person was also taken home by police to the city. 

7:45 pm – A police filed a police report after a man said he lost his wallet after test driving a car at Basil Ford. 

7:59 pm – Police went out to look for a mini-van with Iowa plates on Alexander Avenue. Someone in the neighborhood spotted the van and heard a woman inside the vehicle talking on the phone. The woman said something like “If there is a body, clean the place with bleach.” Police were unable to track down the car. 

8:21 pm – U-Crest firefighters were called to check out an alarm on Floral Place. It turned out to be a faulty CO detector. 

8:35 pm – A phone call came in from the Dollar General on South Rossler Avenue. A few women were starting to fight in the store, before taking off. A caller said the women in question came back and were trying to jump her. Then the woman who called to complain did not want any assistance. 

8:42 pm – A woman was arrested for shoplifting at Walmart on Walden. 

8:48 pm – A man was bleeding on Harlem Road. He was taken to ECMC by ambulance where police went to follow up on the incident. The man had a number of warrants out, including a bench warrant from the District Attorney’s office. 

8:57 pm – A person following a car on Union Road called to report kids sticking their heads up out of a sunroof. Police were unable to track down the car in question. 

9:47 pm – A woman called police to say that a man is contacting her in violation of her order of protection. The man then said the woman has been talking to her. She admits they have been speaking, but she just wants it to stop. They were both advised to change phone numbers and stay away from each other. 

9:59 pm – A man called police to say his mom came into his French Road apartment a few weeks ago and took furniture. It turns out he told his mom to take the items because he was being evicted. The man just called because he was upset at his mom because she would not give him $100 for drugs.
