Cheektowaga Police Blotter: Thursday, November 29, 2018

Cheektowaga first responders were called out to 164 incidents on Thursday.

8:07 am – Doyle firefighters were called to help out with a multi-car wreck on the eastbound I-90. Three people signed off on further treatment. One person was taken to St. Joes by ambulance.

10:16 am – A police report was filed for fraud. A person on Woodgate Avenue said they gave their password and PINS to someone over the phone. This was a caller who had the same number as the Apple Store in the Galleria. Apple confirmed their number is being spoofed and they have a number of complaints from the area.

12:34 pm – A police report was filed for harassment. This is after two employees at Staffing Solutions apparently got into a fight. Police were called to the scene by one of the victims who said they were punched. Management says both employees involved were fired.

12:57 pm – A woman on Zent Court reported her car as stolen after a friend borrowed it but never came back with the vehicle. He came back with it a couple hours later. Everyone was advised.

1:36 pm – Police and an ambulance were called to a home on Cheekwood Drive. A family was concerned about a 53-year-old woman who was tripping out on DMT. The caller was the woman’s sister – who asked for a “plain clothes officer” to come to the house. It turned out the family was not happy with the woman’s new chosen religion. Everyone was advised.

4:02 pm – There was a call from Alpine about a “phone-selling” scam going on in the neighborhood. Apparently, a group of women would meet people on the street and pretend to sell them a phone. After they got the cash from the buyer, they would run from the scene with the phone in their hand. When police got at the location – the alleged scammers could not be found, but some people who told police they were there to buy a phone were on the location. A police report was filed on the incident.

4:24 pm – A mom called 911 because her 6-year-old son never made it home from the Theodore Roosevelt School. The school said he got on a bus, and the bus company didn’t know where the bus was. It turned out the son was in the backyard playing the whole time.

7:21 pm – There was a 911 call about a fight outside of Five Guys at the Galleria. Three men and mention of a gun were made. A car reportedly involved in the incident was pulled over on Galleria Drive. Two people were arrested for narcotics at the scene.

8:54 pm – A call came in about someone being jumped in a driveway on Sebring Drive. The victim was reportedly bleeding from the head and face. An ambulance was called to the scene to check him out. The suspect drove away from the scene but was pulled over by police on Gary. One person was arrested at the scene – they were found with narcotics on them.

11:12 pm – A person was arrested for harassment and a domestic incident report was filed after they reportedly choked a woman.
