CHEEKTOWAGA – First responders started the first day of 2018 by attending to 144 calls throughout the Town.
2:43 am – A 17-year-old was passed out drunk on Pendennis Place and taken to St. Joes by ambulance for treatment.
3:08 am – South Line firefighters spent about an hour at Target on Transit Road. A heat detector went off by the trash compactor. No issue was found, but multiple alarms were going off inside the building. The alarm company and a key holder were notified.
3:22 am – U-Crest firefighters were called to a five-car accident on the westbound I-90, just past Genesee Street. Three people were taken to the hospital by ambulance (two to ECMC, and a 2-year-old child to Children’s). Five others signed off on further treatment. The incident was handed over to State Police.
5:00 am – An officer on patrol told two drunk men to not walk in the middle of Walden Avenue.
7:42 am – The water authority and highway department were notified about a water main break on Winkler Road.
9:20 am – A police report was filed after someone found jewelry was stolen from their home during a New Year’s Eve party.
2:21 pm – A police report was filed after four women walked out without paying their bill at Denny’s.
2:30 pm – A car was pulled over and a woman was arrested for drunk driving after leaving Gardenvillage Drive.
4:42 pm – A teenage boy called police because he was upset that his mother turned off the WiFi. He said he wanted to talk to his dad. Everyone was advised.
6:25 pm – One person was arrested for narcotics on Genesee Street.
7:39 pm – A man in the cell block at police headquarters was checked out for possible frostbite.
8:20 pm – A man was taken to ECMC after using heroin and cocaine for four days straight.
10:44 pm – The water authority was notified about a water main break on Curtiss Street.
