Emergency responders in Cheektowaga were called out to 173 calls for service on Monday, March 18, 2019.
5:02 am – Around 4-5 people snuck into the restaurant at the Millennium Hotel, smoked marijuana, and then snuck back out through the kitchen management told the police.  Officers checked the property for the group. They were gone.
6:38 am – A senior citizen on Lamarck Drive went to her neighbor’s house and started to pound on his door yelling someone was trying to get into her house. The police responded and assisted the confused adult.
8:23 am – A woman on Southgate Road reported that her daughter received text messages from a known person saying 13 people were going to come to the house to beat her up.
9:05 am – U-Crest firefighters attended to a crash between a dump truck and pick up truck on the eastbound I-90. Three people were involved, one of whom went to the hospital.
9:30 am – A police officer radioed to dispatch saying they saw a suspicious person dressed in camo walking in the rear yards of Country Side Lane. The person was detained and checked out for around 20 minutes before getting cut loose.
2:43 pm – A man was arrested outside the Thruway Plaza Tops Friendly Markets for begging people for money.
4:31 pm – The police counseled a Slate Creek Drive mother after her developmentally disabled son tried to attack her over a lost iPad. The 14-year-old calmed down once the police arrived. Family members also came to provide her support while she got additional assistance from Crisis Services.
4:59 pm – A patrol officer on routine patrol at the Walden Galleria walked up on a shoplifting crime in progress at Old Navy. The subject was detained, but Old Navy did not want to prosecute.
5:33 pm – U-Crest firefighters attended to a burning utility pole on Maryvale Drive. The road was shut down during the incident.
6:07 pm – The police arrested a man begging for money outside of the Union Road Tops Friendly Markets. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance. The subject was also barred from the property for life.
7:15 pm – A Subaru Forrester was stopped by patrol on Union Road near Cheektowaga Central. A check of the man’s name found that he had a warrant. He also had narcotics on his person. Two dogs inside the vehicle were placed in the care of the dog control officer for the night.
9:29 pm – A man complained of chest pains while in the police department’s cell block. An ambulance crew checked on the man. The case of incarceritis remained at the police station.
