BUFFALO – A Cheektowaga man awaiting sentencing for attacking his former girlfriend and her friend with a sledgehammer, attacked his defense attorney in the Erie County Holding Center according to the Erie County Sheriff Office.
Spokesperson Scott Zylka says defense attorney Joseph Terranova was in a private, contact allowed, attorney conference room Friday morning for a meeting with inmate Mark Dublino.
“During their meeting, the inmate stood up and attacked Mr. Terranova. The victim sustained injuries to his upper body and face,” said Mr. Zylka.
Mr. Terranova was initially treated at the scene by sheriff office personnel and was later transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
Mr. Dublino, 54, was found guilty of two counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, four counts of Burglary in the First Degree, one count of Aggravated Criminal Contempt and two counts of Assault in the Second Degree after he entered the home of his former girlfriend in Williamsville, violating an order of protection. Once inside, Mr. Dublino attacked the victim and her friend, striking each multiple times in the head with a sledgehammer according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.
Mr. Dublino was sent to be sentenced on those charges on March 12th.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the latest incident, and additional charges are pending against the inmate Mr. Zylka said.
