CHEEKTOWAGA – As the trees start to shed their leaves this autumn the Cheektowaga Highway Department will begin to pick them up.
The highway department reminds residents that only leaves placed on the grass section next to the curb will be picked up and they say residents should not to put the leaves on the street because they will clog the drains to the storm sewers. Leaves in the street will not be picked up.
Leaf pick up is weather dependent and will continue through the month of November following this schedule:
- 1st week of the month – District 1 – Streets north of Genesee and west of the Thruway.
- 2nd week of the month – District 2 – Streets north of Walden and east of the Thruway.
- 3rd week of the month – District 3 – Streets south of Genesee and west of Union Road.
- 4th week of the month – District 4 – Streets south of Walden and east of Union Road.
