Cheektowaga Chronicle accepted to LION Publishers

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – Cheektowaga’s only local, independent, online news source announced Wednesday that the Local Independent Online News Publishers accepted them as a provisional member.

LION is the only nationwide group representing the interests of publishers and editors of local independent online news websites.

“To be accepted on a provisional basis shows that the group of journalists who make up LION, trusts that the Cheektowaga Chronicle can be an advocate for local journalism and deliver ethical news coverage in the Town of Cheektowaga without sacrificing quality,” said Cheektowaga Chronicle Publisher Jim Herr.

The mission of the Cheektowaga Chronicle is to connect readers to our community by reporting the news of the day, enterprising in-depth investigative reports and caring for our community by telling the human interest stories of our neighbors.

LION publishers are dedicated to championing the local online news industry, in the firm belief that independent publishers are establishing the template for successful local digital news organizations – just as independent publishers did for print newspapers in the 19th century.
