CHEEKTOWAGA – A man was sent to the hospital after he was struck in the head by a chainsaw Monday afternoon according to the Hy-View fire chief.
Chief Dan Hatfield tells Cheektowaga Chronicle that the man was operating the chainsaw when it kicked back and stuck him in the head. The victim wasn’t sure what part of the saw struck his head.
The incident happened at Wright Frontier Tree Care on Rein Road around 1:22 pm.
The man, who was alert, was transported to Erie County Medical Center to be stitched up.
A company representative called Cheektowaga Chronicle Wednesday morning to say the victim was a friend of her husband and he was using the chainsaw to cut wood for personal use when he had the accident. He was not an employee.
The Cheektowaga Police classified the incident as an industrial accident according to police records.
