CHEEKTOWAGA – Busy Beaver Lawn & Garden pulled out the hedge trimmers to cut the ribbon on their brand new storefront on the southwest corner of Broadway and Union Road Friday morning.
The event was held in conjunction with the Cheektowaga Chamber of Commerce and kicked off a busy day of demonstrations and giveaways.
Elizabeth Bonadonna started the business in Hamburg with Chris Pegnia and Nicolas Pegnia back in 2014.
“We built everything from the ground up. We did small little jobs with one truck and one mower, and we expanded by selling work and getting our name out there,” said Ms. Bonadonna.
The business moved into its location at 3229 Broadway last November but couldn’t work on the building because of the winter weather. Today, the new customer showroom and outdoor patio complement the corner.
“This year we really wanted to put everything together and make a big old grand opening,” added Ms. Bonadonna. “We’re your one-stop shop for your landscaping, lawn and garden needs for the service end of it as well as if someone wants to come in and do it yourself.”
The business employees 10-15 employees through the summer months, but their commercial snowplow end of the business balloons their payroll to just under 50 employees.
Busy Beaver offers plants, perennials, bulk and bagged materials, fire tables, outdoor displays, garden accessories and tools, and other goods to make your outdoor living dreams come to life.
They even offer custom full-scale 3-D renderings of your design project. Busy Beaver also lets you use their renderings to finish your landscaping job yourself if you wanted.
“Some people are really ambitious and they value their garden. They have a lot of passion, and they want to be involved because it’s sometimes relaxing and fun. I think it’s nice because some people do want to have the plan and do it themselves and sometimes have a challenge,” Ms. Bonadonna says.
Vendors will be on site throughout Friday speaking and giving live demos. The company is offering hot deals on fire tables, and there will be a mixer at 5 pm. Beer from 12 Gates will be served, and a live band will be playing on the patio. Ms. Bonadonna homemade meatballs and Italian sauce will also be served, and guest can try out the fire tables by making some s’mores.
Busy Beaver Lawn & Garden is currently open Monday-Friday 8 am – 4 pm.
