CHEEKTOWAGA – Cheektowaga Councilmember Brian Nowak has joined the race to fill Patrick Burke’s soon to be vacant seat in the Erie County Legislature.
Mr. Nowak’s political career began when he was elected to the Cheektowaga Council last year. Since that time he says he has worked with government colleagues to increase government transparency, reduce property taxes, and stood with workers whose rights were infringed upon.
“I believe we need legislators who are both working on critical issues at the local level, while also doing all they can to advocate for change at the state level and beyond. Serving
Cheektowaga, Kaisertown, Sloan, and South Buffalo as the next 7th district legislator would offer the opportunity to do more for my community,” said Mr. Nowak.
He is a volunteer firefighter at Pine Hill Volunteer Fire Department and in August, he was named Cheektowaga’s Deputy Supervisor. He resides in the Town of Cheektowaga with his wife, Holly.
Mr. Nowak joins fellow councilmember and Democrat Tim Meyers in the race for Mr. Burke’s seat. Mr. Meyers declared his intentions to run for the seat last week. Patrick Burke was elected to the New York State Assembly earlier this month.
