Absent stenographer delays Public Hearings

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – Two public hearings scheduled to be held at Tuesday night’s Town Board meeting had to be rescheduled after the stenographer canceled at the last moment due to the weather.

It was explained at the Town Board meeting that the stenographer from DePaolo-Crosby Reporting Services tried to cancel with Town Clerk Vickie Dankowski at 4:50 p.m. but Dankowski and the Town Board were conducting the Town Board work session at the time.  A cancellation message didn’t reach everyone until 6:40 p.m.

Board members discussed the possibility of holding the public hearings without the stenographer, but law requires a stenographer to be present to transcribe an official record of the hearings according to Dankowski.

The matters that were to be discussed include the construction of a six foot micro cell antenna on the roof of 5074 Transit Road and a request by Buffalo Depot, LLC to rezone 2685 Walden Avenue from Light Manufacturing to General Commercial.

A new date was not discussed at the meeting.
