CHEEKTOWAGA – Cheektowaga’s own Camille Brandon has been selected Grand Marshal of the 80th Annual Pulaski Day Parade according to General Pulaski Association President Brian D. Rusk.
The parade steps off Sunday, July 22 at 1:30 pm and takes place as the Polish community celebrates the 100th Anniversary of the Independence of Poland.
The Pulaski Day Parade marches from Walden Avenue west from the Thruway Plaza to Harlem Road and north to the Cheektowaga Town Park.
Ms. Brandon is the Director of the General Pulaski Association, Inc., and is the Chairperson of the Cheektowaga Youth Board and Board Member of the American Heart Association.
Honorary Grand Marshals include: New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, Erie County Legislator John Mills, Bishop Richard Malone, Ivana Lowell, Philanthropist and Co-Owner of Lowell International Foods, Illinois, Consul General of Poland Maciej Golubiewski, New York State Assemblywoman Monica Wallace, Polish Orthopaedic Surgeon Robert Smolinski, Erie County Legislature Chair Peter Savage, Erie County Executive Mark Polancarz, Erie County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw, Cheektowaga Judge Paul Piotrowski, President of Pangea Network USA Gregory Fryc, Auxiliary Bishop Edward Grosz, Bishop John Mack with HMRC National Catholic Church and State Senator Tim Kennedy.
On Saturday, July 21 at 5:30 pm the 100th Anniversary of Poland’s Independence will be celebrated with the General Pulaski Association Gala at Samuel’s Grande Manor, 8750 Main Street, Clarence.
Special guests include Poland’s Secretary of State Anna Maria Anders, M*A*S*H* TV star Loretta Swit, CBS TV Inside Edition Host Rita Cosby and relative of the Second Prime Minister of Poland Ignacy Paderewski, Colleen Paderewski. Alicia Rodzoch is the Chair with Co Chair Joseph Mikolaj Rej, Jr. coordinating this important gala.
In conjunction with Cheektowaga’s 40th Polish American Festival with Cheektowaga Town Supervisor Diane Benczkowski on Sunday, July 22 at 3:30 pm Poland’s Disco Polo Star “Junior” will perform at the Cheektowaga Town Park bringing new age Polish music directly from across the ocean to Cheektowaga.
The festival takes place on Friday, July 20th, music starts at 4:30 pm; Saturday, July 21, music starts at 2 pm; Sunday, July 22nd, Parade at 1:30 pm, music at 2:30 pm. See a list of bands here.
