CHEEKTOWAGA – Students, faculty, and staff at Cleveland Hill Elementary School honored family members of students who are veterans during the school’s Annual Veterans Day Breakfast.

“I think it gives us a great opportunity to come together as a school community and to celebrate and recognize the service and sacrifice of the people who have given us the rights, liberties, and freedoms that we all enjoy,” said Jon MacSwan, Superintendent of Cleveland Hill School District.

WBEN radio co-host David Bellavia; John Stiegler, Commander of the Francis J. Donovan American Legion Post 1626; restaurateur, Russell Salvatore; and Superintendent MacSwan and Principal Patrick McCabe spoke about the importance of honoring our veterans.

The Cleveland Hill Elementary Library Media Center raises funds to sponsor the yearly event which increases in attendance every year.

“We used to keep this in our elementary school library and we busted at the seems there and now its kind of grown to where we are using an auditorium and who knows where it will go in the future, but it’s fun to watch it grow,” added Mr. MacSwan.
