CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – Two people were sent to the hospital and a portion of Genesee Street was closed following a two-car crash Saturday afternoon.

It happened at 3:19 p.m. near the Courtyard Marriott on Genesee Street between a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze and 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee.  It appears the Jeep broadsided the Cruze sending the car onto the sidewalk in front of the airport.

Firefighters from U-Crest and the Buffalo Airport attended to the scene.  American Medical Response transported one person to Erie County Medical Center and another to Sisters of Charity Hospital, St. Joseph Campus.

The Cheektowaga Police Department is investigating the crash. Charges are pending against the driver of Jeep according to the police blotter.

The westbound lanes of Genesee Street were closed to traffic while emergency crews attended to the scene.  The N.F.T.A. Police Department assisted Cheektowaga Police.
