U-Crest fire truck snaps power pole on Union Road

CHEEKTOWAGA – Traffic on Union Road was impacted after a U-Crest fire truck crashed into a power pole Thursday afternoon.

First responders were at the scene at the corner of Union Road and Clover Place.  

A U-Crest fire truck struck a pole at the intersection around 12:45 pm.  The pole snapped.

A law enforcement source at the scene says the fire truck was making a right-hand turn onto Union Road from Clover Place and cut the corner to close.  The fire truck was not responding to an emergency.

Union Road was shut down between George Urban Boulevard and Genesee Street in both directions through 10 pm.

NYSEG crews had to set a new power pole and change the lines.

No one was hurt.
