SLOAN, N.Y. – Two people escaped injury after a tree branch came crashing down on top of a car Sunday afternoon.

Patricia Borowicz of South Ogden Street was driving north on Wagner Avenue around 4 p.m. returning from a shopping trip.

A Budget Rental truck approached her car from the opposite direction and struck a tree, causing a large tree limb to crash down on top of her car – shattering her sunroof.

“It was a good thing I had my top closed on my roof because otherwise all that glass would have came down on us,” said Borowicz.

Fredrick Avino was in the passenger seat.

“It scared the hell out of me.  I thought the whole roof was going to come down.  I was going, ‘holy geez, what the hell was that’,” said Avino.

The box truck also brought down a communications wire.

Firefighters from the Sloan Fire Company attended to the scene.  Besides a little anxiety, no one was hurt.

Cheektowaga Police are investigating the incident.
