Tom Brennan, Chief of the Forks Fire Department tells Cheektowaga Chronicle that Cheektowaga Police officers were poolside performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) when firefighters arrived to aid in resuscitation efforts.

James Speyer, Assistant Chief of the Cheektowaga Police says the victim, Tyler R. Craig, 18, of Hewitt Avenue in Buffalo was taken by AMR ambulance to Sisters of Charity Hospital, St. Joseph Campus where he died.

“Several friends attempted to save Tyler but were unsuccessful.  Cheektowaga Police Officers performed CPR on Tyler until AMR paramedics arrived and took over, however their efforts were in vain,” said Speyer.

Police officers remained at the hotel interviewing eyewitnesses and the person who pulled the teen from the water.
