LANCASTER, N.Y. – Restauranteur Russell J. Salvatore made a sizeable donation benefiting the veterans of Western New York during an event in Patriots & Heroes Park in front of his Transit Road restaurant Monday.

Mr. Salvatore donated 10 transportation vans, valued at $300,000, to the VA Hospital.

A squad from the Francis J. Donovan American Legion Post 1626 in Cheektowaga provided a color guard and rifle squad for the ceremony.

The 2017 Chevrolet Express 12-passenger vans were bought from Joe Basil Chevrolet.

The vans will be used to transport veterans to and from their appointments at the hospital on Bailey Avenue.
