CHEEKTOWAGA – Two cars collided on Union Road Wednesday night causing one of them to roll over and southbound traffic to be diverted.

The crash happened around 9:15 pm in front of the Airport Plaza in the U-Crest Fire District.

A law enforcement source says the driver of a black Jeep pulled out of the plaza’s parking lot into the path of a silver crossover which was traveling southbound on Union Road. The crossover rolled over onto its roof.

The driver of the rolled over car was initially trapped but was able to crawl out under her power according to U-Crest Fire Chief Bryan Chapman.

She and a man from the Jeep went to the hospital by ambulance. Their injuries do not appear serious.

The Cheektowaga Police issued the driver of the Jeep two traffic tickets.

Union Road southbound was shut down at the Kensington Expressway while crews attended to the scene.

First Choice towed both cars.
