CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – An estimated 1,650 NYSEG customers in North Cheektowaga were without power Thursday evening while crews investigated a fault in the local power grid.
Customers around Chapel Avenue and Dick Road lost power just after 7 p.m. Police officers on patrol also reported that several traffic signals were also impacted.
Melony Putman, Outreach Manager for NYSEG tells Cheektowaga Chronicle that a fuse blew somewhere along the local power grid.
“The crews are patrolling the line trying to find the fault. So far they haven’t found anything, but the guys are making sure the line is clear and that there are no faults and then we’ll put the fuse back in,” said Melony Putman.
It appears the company restored power to the area around 9 p.m. according to police radio reports.
