CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – Niagara by Frey celebrated the grand re-opening of their newly remodeled “All Things Candy” store on Genesee Street Tuesday ushering in a new chapter for the familiar Niagara Chocolates brand.
The CEO and President of Chocolat Frey North America, Christoph Schmassmann, Cheektowaga Councilmember James Rogowski, and Assistant Retail Manager Bernadette Safy cut the ribbon on the company’s new 1,000 plus square foot storefront.
“We think it’s a very nice combination of two chocolate dynasties coming together here. The Swiss Frey Chocolat who has a history of 130 years and the Niagara Chocolates which is very well known from the fundraising business for school kids with more than 60 years in the area,” said Christoph Schmassmann, CEO and President of Chocolate Frey North America.
The Swiss chocolatier purchased the Cheektowaga based company in 2014, and the business acquisition has been a positive one for the community according to Cheektowaga Councilmember James Rogowski.
“Number one, people have jobs. Number two, tax revenue comes into Erie County. Number three, tax revenue comes into the Town. Instead of having an empty building we have a building filled, and as we walked through there you saw a great deal of people, and I like that because it’s a big impact here for this Genesee Street neighborhood,” said Mr. Rogowski.
Available at the 3500 Genesee Street store is the Swiss import Chocolat Frey, the classic treats offered by Niagara Chocolates, Celebration by Frey, and Sixlets Chocolatey Candies. The store also offers custom chocolate confections and offers fine Swiss coffee to enjoy while shopping.
The store is open Monday – Friday 9:30 am – 6 pm.
