CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – Cheektowaga Police slapped the cuffs on a town man after he and an accomplice tried to break into a Genesee Street pizzeria Tuesday morning.

Assistant Chief of Police Jim Speyer said they arrested Carlos Beltrannegron, 18, of David Avenue and charged him with Attempted Burglary and Criminal Mischief.

An eyewitness called police saying two people were trying to break into Pine Ridge Pizza and Subs at 2421 Genesee Street just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

She described the two men in dark hoodies and lurking around the building.  When a police car pulled up, the two ran down Genesee Street towards Harlem Road.  A police officer later apprehended Mr. Beltrannegron one street away on Normandy Avenue.  His accomplice got away.

This isn’t the first time Pine Ridge Pizza and Subs has been a target.  Police records show the establishment was hit two other times in the past month.

The pizzeria’s manager tells Cheektowaga Chronicle that on May 17th someone broke into the building and stole $50.00 from the cash register.  Police are reviewing video evidence of the crime.

A little over a week later on May 28th, someone tried to pry the back door open but was spooked by a freshly installed security system.

The manager says he does not know if it’s an inside job or if he is a random target.  He must wait until Mr. Beltrannegron’s court date to see if he recognizes the man or not.
